Roy Bear Chief

Elder Roy Bear Chief, MSW, is from the Siksika Nation. With a rich career in social work, health services, and community leadership, he holds a Master of Social Work and two honorary doctorates from the University of Calgary and Mount Royal University. He has served in various vital roles within Siksika Nation, including Tribal Manager and elected member of Chief and Council. His contributions have been recognized through numerous awards, including the Lifetime Distinguished Achievement Award, the Queen’s Jubilee, and the Alberta Centennial Medal. Roy is a residential school survivor whose 10 years in the system has left a lasting impact—an experience that still resonates in his mind.
